Travian x5 Server & Update on Travian 4 Beta (More Pictures)

Hey Guys,

.CO.UK x5 Speed Server:

Well I thought I'd start with the news you might be the most interested in and thats the fact that Travian are launching an English language x5 server on the .co.uk domain, it's not clear whether it's going to be recurring or whether it's a one off although since they are normally one offs I'm guessing it's going to go down that route. Pre-registration begins on the 29th of November and the server starts at 6AM GMT on the 1st of December.

I am interested in watching that server with a good team of any tribe so I can  it, so if any one is willing leave me a PM on the .co.uk forums and we can talk more. As I said I do plan on covering the x5 server from start to finish if it is possible so make sure to check back regularly if you want to get the latest news on that. I have a feeling we're going to see a number of returners from previous x5 servers as well as the bigger names from the .com and of course the .co.uk servers flocking to have a go at it which is natural of course.

More Beta Details & Pictures:

Now on to coverage of the Closed Travian 4 beta which is edging ever closer to the half way point and hopefully artifact time which is always a good stimulant. The beta server has managed to keep a large number of players active from the onset and although there are still a lot less players than a normal server it has been pretty amazing seeing players really battling it out to avoid being a farm. This post may end up going to go into specifics but I'll try and not do it too much. I've decided to do like an overview of what I've experienced and what I think overall of the new game so far. I'm not going to do much as the public beta starts soon and people will get to know this for themselves.

First of all after a couple of days you'll realize that the game moves at a faster pace for all players than it does in Travian 4, it's not a major quickening but it's definitely there. The main reason for this is the hero adventures which bring in resources in some cases which at the beginning are a true godsend and the silver which can be converted into gold for non-users, all of which improves the game for non-raiders and gold free accounts.

On the note of hero adventures I've found that they are really good for smaller players and allow you to increase the speed of levelling of your hero. For example my hero is now level 25, but only about 2/3 of the hero experience comes from offence kills, the rest comes from adventures, scrolls and my 15% extra experience helmet. I think it's quite interesting to see a top 20 hero (I've been within the top 40 since day 7 I believe) that's points don't all come from adventure. So we are going to see Travian 4 have a major focus on adventures and it's certainly a game changer. Also just to remind you all that levelling up on Travian 4 only gives you 4 Attribute Points. So now you need to be level 24 to max out a skill; you can see in the image below.

As you can see, the hero screen shows you all your attribute points and how you have distributed them, it also shows you the health of your hero as well as it's level. However recently Travian upgraded it so (as above) it now shows your total experience on that screen and exactly how much experience you need to level up. Another useful addition is the speed of your hero, this is the speed that your hero can achieve travelling alone as it will still be slowed down when travelling with an escort. I thought I'd also point out that the maximum hero strength for a Roman is 10100 without items, however I have a sword equipped which provides a +500 strength bonus. The maximum strength for a Teuton or Gaul hero is 8080 which gives Roman heroes quite a big advantage (especially at the beginning of the game) to clear villages. Personally I have found that Roman's have the best tribe specific hero ability.

In a decision that is likely to hit the largest players the hardest (this won't effect 1x servers), the number of culture points given from parties has been halved on Speed (3x) servers for both small and large parties. This will be further adjusted for 2x, 5x & 10x servers. It will have an impact on growth and will probably force more people to purchase Artworks which are going to give half your daily overall CP production for each on you use. You can see this below:

As you all know a new currency called Silver has been added to the game, the current exchange rate from Gold to Silver is 1 Gold for 100 Silver however you will only get 1 Gold for every 200 Silver you trade in.

I will most likely not be playing the Open Beta (although I do have a registration code) however I would like to find someone willing to write for TravianTales about the server so if anyone is interested in becoming a writer for us covering the Open Beta server please send me either an email or PM me on the Travian .COM, .IN, or .CO.UK forums as soon as possible.

Also, anyone who hasn't yet, please give us a facebook 'like' on the frontpage page.

I find the new Travian version 4 more interesting and complex than the existing ones due to thechanges in the Hero system. The game is now "Hero centric". Removal of the plunder bonus for Teutons make it less appealing compared to Romans for aggressive players. The 1 square speed advantage of clubs over legionnaires definitely gives clubs some advantage in counter strike.
The game is clearly faster at the beginning with the adventures and hero production bonus.
The evasion settings for Hero and troops in the capital is a useful feature.

The changes in the game has rebalanced the game some what in favour of defensive players since they have got more options than earlier.
Raiders have to think and plan more while raiding early in the game unlike the large scale micro raids one sees in version 3. Each villa has to be cleared individually and attention paid to possible defenses.
