Hey Guys,

This is a very quick post, I'm having problems finding time to be online due to the Christmas period and a huge amount of family stuff I've got going on so I (probably) won't be posting again until a couple of days after Christmas. If anyone needs to contact me please wait until after Boxing Day to try as I am unavailable.

In the mean time however I would be extremely happy if you could all take about 10 minutes to fill out the following survey. This is completely unofficial and is not endorsed by TravianGames, the survey is completely anonymous so I have no way of telling who submitted which answers however I ask you answer each question truthfully. I'm going to be doing a number of Travian surveys although this is probably going to be the longest but that's because it covers some quite important issues.

Thanks,
Steve

COMx Is Here!

Hey Guys,

As some of you might know my favourite server is currently (and may always be) comx so it gives me great pleasure to have registered and got off to a decent start on this comx. Due to time constraints (as well as having other servers) I took the previous comx (the one that just finished) off to focus on the other stuff so there wasn't much server analysis or details of what was happening on comx up on the blog but luckily that's all about to change.

This is only meant to be a short post so I'll keep it as such. However I will mention the first person (and a couple of others now) have achieved second villages so congratulations to them. Also currently the best raider is Te Amo who is also well known as Surikat and has a long history of excellent accounts and hammers so I'll look forward to seeing how much she achieves this server. A proper post will come in the next few days.

Let's Continue

Let's Continue

After my first post, I'm ready to wrote another one. This one will be shorter because nothing major happend on this server till today.

Biggest news on this server are new villages, most of top 1000 have already built second village or will build in few days. But there are some players with 3 villages already and that is very impressive, but with all those items that hero holds it's not difficult to raise CP to 8000.
After some player decide to stop paying a lot of money for things on auction prices are slightly falling, so if you are not golder my adivce to you is sell everything and make some gold.

And after that you can have hero like this one:

Maybe it's too early talk about alliances but I will write my opinion about it.

Nucleus - this is my ally so I won't talk much about it. Just some pictures to show:

HELLAS
-They look strong with some really powerful players but they are not so strong in robbing.

NATO
-I think they won't go far because they are really all over the map, but who knows.

[FU]
-I like them the most. They are strong in off and in deff but you can see that they have wing which is even stronger than main ally so many things can happen.

There are some others alliances that are good but my opinion is that we play only 3 weeks and that is way to little.

That's it from me in this post.

Reporting the new T4 open beta.

I'm the Red_Barron, from the .Com forum and I’m going to be blogging about the T4 open beta server. I’ve never played T4 before, nor have I read anything about it. I decided to apply for a registration code out of impulse, which got accepted, so here I am, writing as a newbie.
I've played Travian for around 4 years now and am always one of the first to complain about any updates that occur however this is different. I'm currently bored of the same old Travian, so hopefully this rejuvenation will be a success.
The first thing that struck me, when registering, was that when I received my activation email I was asked to ‘create my hero’. This seemed strange to me since it was nothing more than giving a man a beard and some hair. However, it all makes sense now – as I’ll explain further into this post.

After eventually being able to log in (I decided to wait for it to cache images, even though I have no idea what it means), I was shocked by the interface. I hated it. 3 hours later, I have changed my mind completely and now find it attractive but very, very different.
Although the buildings look a lot like something from a cartoon they actually look a lot more like what I imagine the buildings would have looked like. They look more aged, more medieval and a lot more artistic and detailed.
I can't post without mentioning the changes to the map ... It has been completely changed. If you were to compare a before and after image, you wouldn't believe they belonged to the same game. However, I believe the map is a good update - the ability to zoom especially. The one thing I dislike with the new map feature however is the oasis. It is hard to distinguish an oasis between an unoccupied valley and even harder to differentiate between which oasis offers which bonus.

The ability to do so many different things with the hero is by far the best addition to the game. The reason you can change your heros appearance is because you can change his clothing and items to change his attributes and the benefits you receive from him.
One of the first few quests, surprisingly, was to build a rally point and further, to send your hero on his first 'adventure'. I sent my hero, and within 20 minutes he arrived back with 6 cages. These traps will enable me to capture animals from oasis (without loss) and enslave them into becoming defenders for my village until they die or I send them back. Alternatively, I can, once I've completed 10 adventures, offer my cages on the auction, in exchange for other goods or silver (another new addition).
My hero has since been on a further 2 adventures and has returned with silver coins (These can be used to purchase equitable items to your hero which will boost his stats) and a 'book of wisdom'. The book of wisdom enables you to reset your hero attributes and rearrange them however you choose.
I could continue writing for hours on end, however dinner is beckoning me so I will round this post off with one final remark, regarding the hero. Instead of attack and defence points, it has been compressed down so that there is just one category for the heroes personal strength. It is now known as fighting strength. You still have the ability to add points to you attack and defence bonus. There is another new addition regarding the hero. You have the ability to change the amount of resources produced by the hero. This does NOT work in a percentage, rather 10 per point added. It is useful for start game since you can change it as often as you like - meaning if you are 30 wood short when trying to build a clay field, you can change the resource production of the hero so that you are able to afford it quicker.
I'm not sure how this server will pan out but hopefully it will give me a lot to write about. Let's hope for an interesting and very busy server.
That's about it for today. All in all, I've very pleased with this update and I hope it will mean a long, healthy future for Travian. Stay tuned for more posts very soon and perhaps even an alliance analysis at some point.

Something New!

Something New

Hi guys and gals! All of you already read Red Barron's post about new Open Beta server with Travian 4 version. So, I'm second writer, I'm deffer and you can find me in game under this name, and on forum under name playboy4. Well it's enough about me, let's talk about travian.

I activated my account 10 hours after start and I saw that there's already some robbers in top 10, wow, I know. How's that possible, well there are two things you can do. First one is to clear some weak oasis with hero and some troops. But second is much more intresting, you can use cages, trap some oasis troops and raid this oasis.

What is a cage? Cage is one of items you can get for your hero. You can read more about it here.

I saw a lot intresting stuff in the beginning but here are things that I like the most. First thing is new graphic, and I like it a lot.

After new design, the most intresting thing was everything about hero. From adventures, auctions till new items and appearance.

On the start I saw new task that saying to build rally point and send hero on his first advanture. My hero got bounty on first advanture but on second I got nothing, and I was disappointed but my hero make me happy after third advanture where I got a gelding (horse).

After I did first 10 advantures I got 500 silver and I started to spend more and more time on auction table. One thing that suprise me was first sale on auction where someone sold 6 cages for incredibile 65000 silver and when you convert this in to gold, that is 325 gold, but people start to be smart and now I buy 6 cages for only 250 silver, that is 1,25 gold. But that's the game, people learn on own mistakes.

I don't like very much new hero appearance but I can used to it. I don't want to write much about items for hero all you need you can find here.

The only thing I don't like about this new version is new map. There are new options you can use on map, but it's difficult to look in your 7*7, raid and maybe the biggest problem is that you can't see the map on mobile phone. So I hope Travian team will change map somehow till real t4 version.

This is my first post, but surely not the last one. Here are some extra pictures.

till next post! :P

Travian 4 Open Beta Started

Hey Guys,

Now that the server has started I thought I'd do a quick post about it and some random other stuff including some statistics about the blog itself included at the end of the post. As I said this will be a very short post about the beta with no opinion just some quick statements of fact.

The Open Beta:

Speed: x1 Normal
Mode: Travian 4 Open Beta
No. of Players: Over 6000
Register: Here
Login: Here
Test Account: Watcher
Password: hungrywolf

Yes you can log onto the test account I've created if you wish to have a look. I've built a couple of buildings so you can see what they look like. Please don't attempt to change the password or email as this is a goodwill gesture. Any rude or abusive language sent from the account will mean I have to close it down.

Some quick answers for some questions I've seen asked a lot.Your hero arrives as soon as you activate your account. You will receive roughly 3 adventures per day in the first 3 days although this is rolling I believe so the exact time you receive them is random. This figure then reduces as the server goes on.

If you attack someone while you are in beginners protection then that protection will end immediately, this does not happen if you attack an oasis. The amount of points needed to level up your hero is now reduced significantly so hero levelling is easier, although you will now only receive 4 Attribute Points Per Level

Yes the WWs do spawn straight from the beginning, also the natars will slowly begin to build the World Wonders themselves (this will take a long time).

Travian x5 Server & Update on Travian 4 Beta (More Pictures)

Hey Guys,

.CO.UK x5 Speed Server:

Well I thought I'd start with the news you might be the most interested in and thats the fact that Travian are launching an English language x5 server on the .co.uk domain, it's not clear whether it's going to be recurring or whether it's a one off although since they are normally one offs I'm guessing it's going to go down that route. Pre-registration begins on the 29th of November and the server starts at 6AM GMT on the 1st of December.

I am interested in watching that server with a good team of any tribe so I can  it, so if any one is willing leave me a PM on the .co.uk forums and we can talk more. As I said I do plan on covering the x5 server from start to finish if it is possible so make sure to check back regularly if you want to get the latest news on that. I have a feeling we're going to see a number of returners from previous x5 servers as well as the bigger names from the .com and of course the .co.uk servers flocking to have a go at it which is natural of course.

More Beta Details & Pictures:

Now on to coverage of the Closed Travian 4 beta which is edging ever closer to the half way point and hopefully artifact time which is always a good stimulant. The beta server has managed to keep a large number of players active from the onset and although there are still a lot less players than a normal server it has been pretty amazing seeing players really battling it out to avoid being a farm. This post may end up going to go into specifics but I'll try and not do it too much. I've decided to do like an overview of what I've experienced and what I think overall of the new game so far. I'm not going to do much as the public beta starts soon and people will get to know this for themselves.

First of all after a couple of days you'll realize that the game moves at a faster pace for all players than it does in Travian 4, it's not a major quickening but it's definitely there. The main reason for this is the hero adventures which bring in resources in some cases which at the beginning are a true godsend and the silver which can be converted into gold for non-users, all of which improves the game for non-raiders and gold free accounts.

On the note of hero adventures I've found that they are really good for smaller players and allow you to increase the speed of levelling of your hero. For example my hero is now level 25, but only about 2/3 of the hero experience comes from offence kills, the rest comes from adventures, scrolls and my 15% extra experience helmet. I think it's quite interesting to see a top 20 hero (I've been within the top 40 since day 7 I believe) that's points don't all come from adventure. So we are going to see Travian 4 have a major focus on adventures and it's certainly a game changer. Also just to remind you all that levelling up on Travian 4 only gives you 4 Attribute Points. So now you need to be level 24 to max out a skill; you can see in the image below.

As you can see, the hero screen shows you all your attribute points and how you have distributed them, it also shows you the health of your hero as well as it's level. However recently Travian upgraded it so (as above) it now shows your total experience on that screen and exactly how much experience you need to level up. Another useful addition is the speed of your hero, this is the speed that your hero can achieve travelling alone as it will still be slowed down when travelling with an escort. I thought I'd also point out that the maximum hero strength for a Roman is 10100 without items, however I have a sword equipped which provides a +500 strength bonus. The maximum strength for a Teuton or Gaul hero is 8080 which gives Roman heroes quite a big advantage (especially at the beginning of the game) to clear villages. Personally I have found that Roman's have the best tribe specific hero ability.

In a decision that is likely to hit the largest players the hardest (this won't effect 1x servers), the number of culture points given from parties has been halved on Speed (3x) servers for both small and large parties. This will be further adjusted for 2x, 5x & 10x servers. It will have an impact on growth and will probably force more people to purchase Artworks which are going to give half your daily overall CP production for each on you use. You can see this below:

As you all know a new currency called Silver has been added to the game, the current exchange rate from Gold to Silver is 1 Gold for 100 Silver however you will only get 1 Gold for every 200 Silver you trade in.

I will most likely not be playing the Open Beta (although I do have a registration code) however I would like to find someone willing to write for TravianTales about the server so if anyone is interested in becoming a writer for us covering the Open Beta server please send me either an email or PM me on the Travian .COM, .IN, or .CO.UK forums as soon as possible.

Also, anyone who hasn't yet, please give us a facebook 'like' on the frontpage page.

Hero Items in Travian 4 Part 1: Equipables

So, as I've mentioned in my other Travian 4 posts (and the images I've shown up here) there are items which you can equip to make your hero stronger or give a bonus to the troops he is travelling with. Heroes can use two sorts of items, Equipables and Comsumables, I've decided to split the article into two parts so it's easier to understand. I'd like to thank Holdwolf  for being the first to post up a full list. I'm making a section for each type of item you can equip, in each of these sections you can only have 1 of these items equip at the same time.

Tier 1 items are the weakest set of items in the game but are available to be found from the beginning in most cases, as the game progresses Tier 2 items begin to be discovered followed later by Tier 3 Items. You'll found that there are a lot more Tier 1 items found then Tier 2 and again Tier 3 due to the fact that people are more likely to keep and use higher levelled items and less people will find them to start with.
